เคล็ดลับการใช้ file sharing ระบบ workgroup ของ XP/VISTA/7 LAN Share Network

Post by tong »

1. Each computer on the workgroup has a unique computer name. So they can identify and communicate with each other on the network.

2. All computers on the network have the same workgroup name.

Cautions! Do not use workgroup name as MSHOME or WORKGROUP. Otherwise you will can't browse the other workgroups.

3. On Windows Vista, Change the network location type to Private.

Private (Home or Work)

This is the location setting for when your computer is connected to trusted computers in a home network or office (work) network. Network discovery and File sharing will be on by default to make it easier for you to discover and do file sharing with other computers and devices on a network, and allows other network users to see your computer. Windows Firewall will be turned on and set to allow all communication through. If you change these default settings, they will be applied to every network with the Private location type.

Public

Choose this location setting for when your computer is connected to a network that has a direct connection to the Internet, such as public network in airport, coffee shop, library and other public areas. Network discovery, File sharing and other network sharing features will be Off by default to keep your computer from being visible to other computers around you and to help protect from any malicious software from the Internet. Windows Firewall will be turned on and set to block all access from other computers unless you allow an exception. If you change these default settings, they will be applied to every network with the Public location type.

Domain

This is when your computer is part of domain network that contains Active Directory domain controller. This is usually a work or corporate network. You will not be able to change the network location type because it is controlled by your network administrator. This will not be an option here.
Private.jpg Private2.jpg
3. On Windows 7, Change the network location type to Home or Work.

Home network

For home networks or when you know and trust the people and devices on the network. Computers on a home network can belong to a homegroup. Network discovery is turned on for home networks, which allows you to see other computers and devices on the network and allows other network users to see your computer. For more information, see What is network discovery?

Work network

For small office or other workplace networks. Network discovery, which allows you to see other computers and devices on a network and allows other network users to see your computer, is on by default, but you can't create or join a homegroup. For more information, see What is network discovery?

Public network

For networks in public places (such as coffee shops or airports). This location is designed to keep your computer from being visible to other computers around you and to help protect your computer from any malicious software from the Internet. HomeGroup is not available on public networks, and network discovery is turned off. You should also choose this option if you're connected directly to the Internet without using a router, or if you have a mobile broadband connection.

Domain network

For domain networks such as those at enterprise workplaces. This type of network location is controlled by your network administrator and can't be selected or changed.

4. Check Network discovery and File sharing settings. On step 3 should turn these on by default, but it is a good idea to double check to make sure.

5. Turn Password protected sharing On or Off.

On

Only people who have a user account and password created on this computer can access shared files and folders, printers attached to the computer, and the Public folder.

Off

Any people on your network can access the files and folders you set to share on these computer.
Set registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\restrictanonymous = 0
otherwise they will can't get shared names on these computer.

Code: Select all

reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa /v restrictanonymous /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

6. Turn On Windows Firewall. If you are using a 3rd party firewall you might have to change its settings to allow File and Printer Sharing too.

On (recommended)

This setting is selected by default. When Windows Firewall is on, most programs are blocked from communicating through the firewall. If you want to unblock a program, you can add it to the Exceptions list (on the Exceptions tab).

Block all incoming connections

This setting blocks all unsolicited attempts to connect to your computer. Use this setting when you need maximum protection for your computer, such as when you connect to a public network in a hotel or airport, or when a computer worm is spreading over the Internet. With this setting, you are not notified when Windows Firewall blocks programs, and programs on the Exceptions list are ignored. When you select Block all incoming connections, you can still view most webpages, send and receive e‑mail, and send and receive instant messages.

Off (not recommended)

Avoid using this setting unless you have another firewall running on your computer. Turning off Windows Firewall might make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage from hackers and malicious software (such as worms).

What is a homegroup on Windows 7?

A homegroup makes it easier to share files and printers on a home network. You can share pictures, music, videos, documents, and printers with other people in your homegroup. Other people can't change the files that you share, unless you give them permission to do so.

When you set up a computer with this version of Windows, a homegroup is created automatically if one doesn't already exist on your home network. If a homegroup already exists, you can join it. After you create or join a homegroup, you can select the libraries that you want to share. You can prevent specific files or folders from being shared, and you can share additional libraries later. You can help protect your homegroup with a password, which you can change at any time.

Using a homegroup is one of the easiest ways to share files and printers on a home network, but there are other ways to do this. For more information, see File sharing essentials.

Notes

- Computers must be running Windows 7 to participate in a homegroup. HomeGroup is available in all editions of Windows 7. In Windows 7 Starter and Windows 7 Home Basic, you can join a homegroup, but you can’t create one.

- HomeGroup is only available on home networks.

สำหรับคนที่ไม่ได้ตั้ง password และต้องการให้คนเข้ามา access ได้จะต้องตั้งค่าดั้งนี้ก่อน

Code: Select all

Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only
Default: 1

reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa /v LimitBlankPasswordUse /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Local network > Any network activity is According to the application rule.
Trusted network > Any network activity is Allow.

Vmware

Bridged: Connected directly to the physical network.
- Replicate physical network connection state
(The IP address is automatically renewed if you moved between networks which is assigned by DHCP server.)

AllowInsecureGuestAuth specifies whether the SMB client will allow insecure guest logons to an SMB server.

AllowInsecureGuestAuth specifies whether the SMB client will allow insecure guest logons to an SMB server.

Insecure guest logons are used by file servers to allow unauthenticated access to shared folders. While uncommon in an enterprise environment, insecure guest logons are frequently used by consumer Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliances acting as file servers. Windows file servers require authentication and do not use insecure guest logons by default.

Code: Select all

reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters /v AllowInsecureGuestAuth /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

0x80070035 The network path was not found (LAN)

Network Discovery service make you can see the other computer name.
snap3471.png Sometime we can see the other computers in network but we can't browse into them. These can be solved by type IP \\192.168.1.x in the address bar.

To gain access file and printer sharing, you have to change the Kaspersky Firewall setting to "Local".
snap3470.png Public network (Internet): We recommend that you select this status for networks not protected by any anti-virus applications, firewalls or filters (for example, for Internet cafe filters). Users of such networks are not allowed to access to files and printers located on or connected to your computer. Even if you have created a shared folder, the information in it will not be available to users from networks with this status. If you allowed remote access to the desktop, users of this network will not be able to obtain it. Filtering of the network activity for each application is performed according to the rules for this application. By default, this status is assigned to Internet.

Local network: We recommend that you assign this status to networks to which users you wish to grant access to files and printers on your computer (for example, for your internal corporate network or home network).

Trusted network: This status is only recommended for areas that you consider absolutely safe within which your computer will not be subjected to attacks or unauthorized attempts to gain access to your data. If you select this status, all network activity is allowed within this network.
