How to disassembly 2007WFP Dell Monitor

Remove the front plastic border by your fingers. Pull up from inside (see arrows).
Becareful with front panel switchboard otherwise you will break it.
Remove four tiny screws on the switchboard.

Remove four screws.

Gentle remove the back cover case.

Remove these things and remove four screws on the side of the LCD.

Order from the left to right:

1. USB board
2. Processor board
3. Main power supply board
4. Backlight board

On every boards has it own power regulator.

My 8.5 years old monitor suddenly blackout while using. All LEDs are off.
I replaced one bad capacitor but didn't solved. So I moved it to my museum.

I bought two of these monitors several years ago from Dell and they have worked extremely well for me. Bought a 3d unit on eBay 3-4 weeks ago. While it provides a very good picture on the screen it now emits an odor similar to automobile exhaust fumes. So I have "parked" it.

I have assembled computers but am not electrically inclined. My thought is to just replace one or several of the circuit boards in order to correct the issue (my son is accomplished with a soldering iron if such will be necessary). This seems an economical approach to me since my original two monitors have been very reliable over the past 7-8 years.

What is your opinion of this approach?
Do you happen to have a Dell parts list that identifies the various boards, or know where I can find one?

I am amateur too. Each boards have it own power supply. So It's hard to figure out.
Did you disassembly to look the smoke point? Maybe it easy to fix.

It's too risk to disassembly the good working unit and try to replace one by one board to find the bad board.
